UPDATING SATELLITES for MONTEREY SERIES RECEIVERS
MODELS 30-95 & 100C
Eproms were updated September 1999 and since then the following
satellite changes have occurred. You can manually updates these
changes and be current to all satellites as of July 2003.
To verify if you have the September 1999 Eproms, go to Menu 6,
scroll to ON SCREEN PARTNUMBER and press ENTER. The revision number
will be displayed below and if it starts with 16-60XX-1E then you
have the latest revision. The XX will be 65 for a 100C, 40 for a
M95, 41 for a M55 and 42 for a M35.
These updates will work for an older revision database, but you
may have to change or substitute satellite names.
- NAMING SATELLITE GALAXY 11
G7 & K7 Galaxy 7 C/Ku @ 91 degrees West is now identified
as Galaxy 11 (G11).Your Monterey receiver will not allow naming
satellite in 3 digits, i.e., it is not possible to program G11.
Therefore keep G7 and let it represent G11. ( 7 comes 11!

- NAMING SATELLITE GALAXY 4
G6 Galaxy 6 C-Band @ 99 degrees West is now identified
as Galaxy 4 (G4).
You can leave as is or re-name this satellite using the following
procedure:
- Select satellite G6 and allow the dish to move to its location.
- Select MENU 9 and scroll to ADD NEW SATELLITE.
- Press ENTER and enter new name G4.
- Press VIEW, Satellite and see that both G4 and G6 are exactly
in the same position.
- Now remove G6, select MENU 9 and scroll to ERASE SATELLITE:
using left/right keys, select G6 and press ENTER twice.
- Galaxy 4 also has several Ku channels, but they are digital
and the Monterey Receivers can not decode MPEG-2 or Digicipher
2 signals.
- NAMING SATELLITE AMC-4/GE-4
S4 Spacenet 4 C-Band @ 101 degrees West is now identified as AMC-4.
You can use S4 to identify
AMC-4.
- AMC-4 has several Ku channels, but they are digital and cannot
be received by the Monterey unit.
- ADDING SATELLITE GALAXY 10R
G9 Galaxy 9 C-Band @ 123 degrees West is now identified as Galaxy
10R (G0 or G10).
- Select G9, allow dish to move to this position, ADD NEW
SATELLITE and name it G0(zero).
- DO NOT erase satellite G9, instead it will be moved to
its new location.
- Galaxy 10R has several Ku channels, they are mostly digital
and not detected by the Monterey unit.
- RE-LOCATING SATELLITE GALAXY
Satellite Galaxy 9 (G9) is now located 2 degrees West of Galaxy
5 (G5). These instructions will let you re-locate G9 at 127 degrees
West.
- Select G9 and channel 2 (Gospel Music-scrambled).
- Select MENU 7, DISH POSITION and press ENTER.
- Move the dish West until you see a picture or a scrambled
picture..
- Autotune the dish and SAVE.
- G9 is now located in
its new position and the DISH POSITION number should between
the dish position numbers of G5 & C3. You can see these
numbers when you press the SATELLITE key.
- ADDING SATELLITE TELSTAR 7
Telstar 7 at 129 degrees West is a new satellite and the C-Band
format is the same as G5.
- Select satellite G5-channel 21 and let the dish move to
this location.
- Select MENU 9 and ADD NEW SATELLITE.
- Press ENTER and enter new name T0(zero).
- Select MENU 7, DISH POSITION and press ENTER.
- Move the dish West until you see a picture ACN, Autotune
dish and SAVE.
- Telstar 7 is now located in its new position and the dish
number should be between G9 & C3.
- Telstar 7 has several Ku Channels, but are digital and not
detected by the Monterey unit.
- ADDING SATELLITE AMC 8/GE 8
AMC 8 at 139 degrees West is a new satellite and the C-Band format
is the same as C4.
- Select satellite C4 and let the dish move to this location.
- Select MENU 9 and ADD NEW SATELLITE.
- Press ENTER and enter new name G8.
- Select MENU 7, DISH POSITION and press ENTER.
- Move the dish West until you are slightly beyond the position
of C1. Its likely that there will be no active pictures on
this satellite.
- ADDING SATELLITE AMC 6/ GE 6 C-Band
AMC 6 at 72 degrees West is a new satellite and the C-Band format
is the same as W2.
- Select W2 channel 24 and let the dish move to this location.
- Select MENU 9 and ADD NEW SATELLITE.
- Press ENTER and enter new name F6.
- Select MENU 7, DISH POSITON and press ENTER.
- Move the dish East until you see a Spanish station. There
is only one channel at this time.
- 13. ADDING SATELLITE AMC 6/GE 6 KU-Band
AMC 6 Ku at 72 degrees West is a new satellite and the Ku format
is similar to B6.
- Select satellite B6 and let the dish move to this location.
- Select MENU 9 and ADD NEW SATELLITE.
- Press ENTER and enter new name B7.
- Select FORMAT: and scroll till you have SATCOM-K 32.
- It is optional, but you can change SAT. TYPE to AMC 6.
- Select MENU 7, DISH POSITION and press ENTER.\
- Move the dish to the same location as #12 above. You should
observe a picture on channel 28.
- ADDING SATELLITE GALAXY 12/3R C-Band.
Galaxy 12/3R at 74 degrees West is a new satellite and the format
is the same as G3.
- Select satellite G3 and let the dish move to this location.
- Select MENU 9 and ADD NEW SATELLITE
- Press ENTER and enter new name G6.
- Select MENU 7, DISH POSITON and press ENTER.
- Move the dish east until it is at the same position as B6.
- CHANGING SAT-TYPES NAMES (OPTIONAL).
When you select a satellite, it also has a name associated with
it. Example: T5 TELSTAR401.
The name is often used more then once as the software is limited
to naming.
It is possible to change 10 names using MENU 9 , SAT. TYPE.
Example for Re-naming T5:
- Select T5 satellite, go to MENU 9 & SAT. TYPE.
- Using the right arrow key, scroll to SAT1 and press ENTER.
- Enter new name TELSTAR 5 and press MENU twice.
- Caution: renaming the existing satellite names will rename
all satellites which has this name.
- Move the dish east until it is at the same position as B6.
